Small-bore Bench Rifle Competitions (small range) to be held on the following dates 4th August, 8th September, 6th October, 3rd November and 1st December.

Novelty Competitions (large range) to be held on the following dates 4th August, 8th September, 6th October, 3rd November and 1st December.

Service Pistol & Police Pistol (large range) 18th August, 15th September, 20th October, 17th November and 15th December.

1500 28th July, 25th August, 22nd September, 27th October, 24th November and 22nd December.

Practical Pistol

Course of Fire:
   Provided during stage briefing.

Starting Position:
   Provided during stage briefing.

R.O. Commands:

  • "Load And Make Ready."
  • "Are You Ready?"
  • "Standby."
  • "Start Signal."
  • "Stop."
  • "If You Are Finished, Unload And Show Clear."
  • "If Clear, Hammer Down, Holster."
  • "Range Is Clear."

N.I.T.S.A. Service Pistol B

Course of Fire:
Stage 1: 25 metres 6 shots on left target in 15 seconds.
Stage 2: 20 metres 6 shots 3 on each target in 10 seconds.
Stage 3: 15 metres 6 shots on right target in 9 seconds.
Stage 4: 10 metres 6 shots 3 on each target in 6 seconds.

Firearms:
Any centrefire pistol or revolver calibre .354 to .455in.

Position:
Standing. Both hands may be used to hold or steady the pistol.

Ready Position
Pistol held at waist height pointing up range parallel to ground.

Targets:
Two figure 11/59 charging man per competitor.

R.C.O. Commands:

  • "Six rounds load, make ready. "
  • "Anyone not ready?"
  • "Targets away watch and shoot watch and shoot."

AFTER THE SERIES IS FIRED:

  • "Unload and show clear."
  • "All clear."
  • "Are there any protests?"
  • "No protests, face targets."
  • "Advance and score."

N.I.T.S.A. 1500

All timings include reloading, all shots to be fired in strings of six.

MATCH {1}
Standing - 12 shots in 20 seconds at 10 metres
Standing - 12 shots in 20 seconds at 15 metres

MATCH {2}
All shots at 25 metres total time 90 seconds
Kneeling - 6 shots
Standing - 6 shots left handed behind barricade
Standing - 6 shots right-handed behind barricade

MATCH {3}
All at 25 metres on scaled 50-metre target
Sitting - 6 shots
Kneeling - 6 shots barricade may be used
Standing - 6 shots left hand behind barricade
Standing - 6 shots right hand behind barricade
Total time 165 seconds

MATCH {4}
All at 25 metres
Standing - 12 shots in 35 seconds
Standing - 12 shots in 35 seconds

MATCH {5}
Stage 1
Standing - 12 shots in 20 seconds at 10 metres

Stage 2
All at 25 metres, total time 90 seconds
Kneeling - 6 shots
Standing - 6 shots left hand, behind barricade
Standing - 6 shots right hand, behind barricade

Stage 3
All at 25 metres on 50 metre scaled target
Sitting - 6 shots
Kneeling - 6 shots barricade may be used
Standing - 6 shots left hand, behind barricade
Standing - 6 shots right hand, behind barricade
Time allowed 165 seconds

Stage 4
At 25 metres
Standing - 6 shots in 12 seconds

NOTE

Any revolver/pistol from .32 to .45
All rounds to be on person no loading from ammo box
No sighting shots or allowances for malfunctions permitted
Where specified barricades must be used
Barricade to be used as cover but firearm must not touch it
Penalties may be imposed for failure to comply
All matches start with firearm loaded and holstered
Once loaded and holstered it is assumed the competitor is ready
Except for 50 metre stage all shooting must be double action

Competitors will shoot Match 1 2 3 4 and finally the four stages of Match 5. The competitor will therefore go to the firing line on two separate occasions and will require 90 and 60 rounds respectively.

  • "Load and holster"

  • "The line is ready"
  • "Whistle blast to start and finish each match/stage of competition "
  • "Competitors shoot match 1 to 4 and then have a break before starting match 5"

N.I.T.S.A. Police Pistol 1 Competition

Course of Fire:

Practice A
Total of 12 shots in two minutes including reloading. 25 metres

Practice B
Total of 12 shots. The target will make 2 appearances of 15 metres 4 seconds with intervals of approximately 5 seconds. 3 shots to be fired at each appearance. This practice is fired twice.

Practice C
Total of 6 shots. The target will make 3 appearances of 10 metres. 2 seconds with intervals of approximately 5 seconds. 2 shots to be fired at each appearance.

Note:
In practices B and C the pistol must be returned to the ready position between target exposures.

Firearms:
Any centrefire pistol or revolver calibre.354 to .455in.

Position:
Standing. Both hands may be used to hold or steady the pistol.

Ready Position:
Pistol held with arm(s) below 45 degrees pointing at ground.

Targets:
One PAA Figure per competitor.

R.O. Commands:

  • "Six rounds load and make ready"
  • "The targets are facing the competitors. "
  • "Anyone not ready"
  • "Targets away stand by"
  • "The targets turn away and appear after approximately 5 seconds for the practice."

After the practice is fired:

  • "Unload and show clear"
  • "All clear, are their any protests "
  • "No protests, show targets advance and score"
  • "The targets are turned to face the competitors."

.22 PELLET/BULLET RIFLE COMPETITION

The objective of this competition is to stimulate and encourage the use of small-bore rifles within the membership of the N.I.T.S.C. The competition is open to all members and will be held at the Buskhill range.

RULES

  1. Entry to the competition is for members only.
  2. Members must register interest in the competition beforehand. Late entries not accepted.
  3. The competition will be held over a set number of days.
  4. The competitor, prior to using the competition target, can take any amount of practice shots.
  5. Five competition targets will be supplied and must be handed back for scoring.
  6. One or all targets may be used on a day, but targets must be signed out and in separately.
  7. Five shots per target.
  8. No artificial rests (e.g. tripods, sandbags etc.) to be used.
  9. The competition format is as follows
    The competitor, when ready to compete, will ask the Range Officer for a competition target.
    The Range Office will fill in the details and sign the target out.
    Targets not handed back immediately will be deemed invalid.
  10. Scoring will be as follows.
    If over 50% of the hit is within a given circle then the score will be the value of that circle.
    Should the hit be equal between two circles then the score will be the lower value of the circles.
    The adjudicator's decision is final.
  11. At the end of the competition, scores will be added and prizes allocated.
